Keir Starmer confirms resignation plan, outlines timetable for departure
Prime Minister of UK Keir Starmer made an announcement regarding his stepping down from the leadership of the Labour Party due to heavy losses in the local elections. The current Prime Minister will continue to serve until his replacement is elected later this summer, and this procedure is likely to take place before September 1. Andy Burnham, the ex-Mayor of Greater Manchester, who won a by-election to get back to Parliament, declared his intention to run for Prime Minister; however, he is highly regarded to be the next Prime Minister because of his major competitor’s support.
